A plumber fixed the boiler of a 91-year-old terminally ill woman and billed her $0

A plumber is currently going viral for his heartwarming mission: helping the elderly and vulnerable by providing free plumbing services.

In every community, there are individuals who need a little extra help, especially the elderly and people with disabilities. Often, these individuals hesitate to ask for assistance, fearing they might be seen as burdens.

James, originally from Liverpool, is changing this narrative. He offers “free plumbing for life” to those in need. Despite gaining internet fame for his kindness, James insists that his work is “a community effort” and refuses to take all the credit.

When asked what motivates him, James simply says it makes him feel good inside. “It makes me feel human, humble, and a little giddy… I want to expand this service across the country. I will never give up the fight,” he shares.

James hopes to extend his services beyond Burnley, leveraging the attention from his viral story. “I’ve got other plumbers offering help. My hope is to get Depher national, in every city and town,” James said.

Bruce Drury, a 63-year-old semi-retired plumber, was particularly moved by James’s story. He shared, “Your story was a pleasure to read. I am also a plumber and often provided discounts or free services for quick jobs. My boss understood and appreciated how much our clients valued this. Hats off to you, James, for setting a great example for our fellow plumbers. Our job is tough and sometimes dangerous, but giving our services to the elderly is truly appreciated.”
