Cameron Diaz ‘doesn’t care’ about appearance after leaving Hollywood

When Cameron Diaz bid farewell to Hollywood, she not only departed from the industry but also liberated herself from the societal pressures surrounding her appearance—a common experience for women, particularly those in the public eye.

During an interview on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast on the BBC, the former actress shared her current perspective on beauty standards and skincare, expressing a preference for a more carefree lifestyle.

Cameron revealed how stepping away from acting after marrying Benji Madden released her from the constraints of Hollywood’s allure. She acknowledged being “a victim of societal objectifications and exploitations” throughout her life, given her high-profile existence.

“At 51,” Cameron explained, “my beauty products sit practically untouched on shelves, gathering dust and expiring one by one,” illustrating her significant departure from the demanding beauty regimens typically dictated by Hollywood.

Reflecting on her current attitude towards beauty routines, Cameron described herself as “wild” and “like a beast,” indicating a liberating departure from traditional beauty standards.

The mother-of-one has adopted a natural and laid-back approach to skincare, admitting that she doesn’t dwell on her appearance daily. She candidly shared, “I never wash my face,” preferring not to invest much energy in her daily appearance.

While occasionally reverting to old habits by applying skincare products, Cameron does so infrequently, indicating a significant shift in her priorities.

By relinquishing the pressures of appearance, Cameron can focus her time and energy on more meaningful aspects of life, such as raising her daughter, Raddix, born in January 2020.
